I will probably replace my good old Apple HD5870 to flashed or non-flashed GTX680. Can somebody tell me if there is big noise difference beetween these cards when idle for example with eVGA GTX680 Classified 4 GB ?

no difference at idle between a 5770 and 680 gtx at idle. I imagine the 5780 is noisier than the 5770 :p

I actually think it's quieter at load too, but I don't recall hearing it yet... fairly new upgrade for me.

For me, the eVGA GTX 680 Mac Edition (2GB) as quiet as the 5870 it replaced under all conditions.

Thanks - good to know ;) I always loved these Apple cards because they were running at 21% fan speed when idle. I think my HD5870 is even less noisy then HD5770 and even GT120 !

I just put the Mac Version EVGA GTX680 in my Mac Pro last week. There is no real difference at least between my HD5770. Perhaps the fan is a bit "deeper" sounding. Even while running a game it is much quieter than my old PC. Zero issues.

My last two Graphics Cards (GTX570 & GTX780) have been Gigabyte 3 fan Windforce3 models, both flashed by MacVidCards. They both have been extremely quiet and the 3 fans do a great job of cooling. I luv their design.

BTW, my GTX570 is up for sale in the the MarketPlace section, should you decide on a less expensive solution and want the Apple boot screen.
