Guess the resolution of the next iPad

1024x768 or whatever it is now. Higher res would require too much graphics processing power for a handheld device, plus the only reasonable thing they could do is make it a retina type display, as making it higher res would make everything really small and would require yet another version of the iOS. Then there is the issue with giving it a retina display which is that it would have a resolution of 2048x1536 or something like that. That's not only more than a typical IGP in a notebook can easily handle, but try to find a 9.7" IPS panel with that kind of resolution for any sort of reasonable price, or even at all.
Which is why i hope an a5 SOC will be included
which will hopefully be based on an ARM a9

Higher resolution would be nice and good to have. However, if it results is lower battery life due to increase processing requirements then I would prefer that the display remain the same.
For me, iPad portability (battery life) is more important than increasing resolution. I know others think differently and would prefer a Retina display. But if a Retina display shortened battery life by 20%-50% would you still want the extra pixels? For me the answer is easy. No. I would prefer longer battery life.
Edit: Now if we could have Retina resolution without decreasing battery life then I'm all for it.

Same duh. It's not like apple would just screw over all the apps, I would love to see a retina but its not gonna happen. Sorry.
A friend of a friend of mine knows Steve Jobs, and Steve said it will support 1080P 3D at 1920-by-2190 lines of resolution.
While there is a chance Apple will change the resolution it highly unlikely they will change the aspect ratio. If they did change the aspect ratio (BIG if) it would likely change to 1.78 and not 1.6.

They won't change the res. The only reason they did it on the phone is because they could do 4times so all the apps would still work. If they change the ipad res they will either wait until they can do 4x which will be many years or they will decrease the res to match the iPhone 4

I think it will stay the same. It's a really good screen IMO, I think it's got just about the right balance between size & resolution for it's intended use. About the only thing I'd change, is maybe make it a 16x9 resolution, if that can be done without ghanging the overall size of the iPad overall. However, the software fudge ups that a resolution change could cause would be huge, you could end up with 3versiins I'd an app. 1 iPhone, 1 HD version and 1HDWS version.
And I for one hate the pixel doubled iPhone apps on the iPad and I don't want it to do it again just to go widescreen or for a higher resolution

If iPad apps are hardcoded to the resolution (I don't know if they are or not) then that would mean apple would have to go with a 2048x1536 screen. I don't know if a 9.7" IPS screen of that resolution even exists, let alone be cost effective.
No, the next iPad will definitely have a 1024x768 IPS screen with 512MB of RAM and a front facing camera. Everything else will be exactly the same. Stop dreaming and get real.
The current iPad is selling like hotcakes. Glass covered, aluminum battered hotcakes. The recipe isn't going to change anytime soon.

I'm going to guess that it will be the same resolution. I highly doubt it's going to be a retina display.
Next year's iPad will have the same 1024x768 resolution (changes will include more space, front-facing camera, gyroscope, better CPU, etc. but not resolution).

Same, they won't have a new res and it's not needed, the annoyingly marketed "Retina" Display offers you a desktop resolution on your device, which is great, but the iPad already offers you a Desktop resolution, i would love more, but i don't see it
Are you wishing or predicting? Because that would be a terrible prediction. Aint gonna happen anytime soon.
