EDIT
I should admit that this fix fixes not a well-known Delay home button lug but another lug which is less frequent. By the way, it's repaired performance on the my phone, probably will help someone other.

Hey, everyone.

I accidentally discovered method which completely resolve iOS 11 Home Delay issue.
Keep in mind, I have tested this only in iOS 11.2 Public Beta 4. But I am pretty sure this fix should work in all iOS 11 versions.

See video, text version included bellow.

All you need to do is:
1. Launch Settings app.
2. Go to General - Accessibility - Zoom and Turn it off. Keep it mind, it's enabled by default in iOS 11. EDIT: It's not enabled by default. However, was enabled after upgrade from iOS 10.3.3.
3. Make sure that Accessibility Shortcuts are also disabled (they are disabled by default, but not Zoom feature).
Wuala, everything seems much faster and smoother, not only minimizing apps by Home button but also opening.

Are you sure Zoom is enabled by default? I'm not certain it is. When I switch it on, I get a zoom window on screen, which I would have noticed...

Zoom is not on by default and should have no effect on home button behaviour. It's a three finger tap on the screen. Not the same as the configurable double press home button setting. Also, it's not a bug and apple has changed the duration of the pause compared to how a 7 behaved in iOS 10. You can't "fix" it.

edit: Ok, enabling it did slow it down. But it's not what has been discussed before.

Zoom is definitely not enabled by default, otherwise you have a windowed screen.

Zoom feature is enabled by default and require double click with triple finger to be activated.
If I enable it again (not Zoom itself, but Zoom feature), Home button delay will come back.

Just try to disable it in Settings and see what happens.
Again, its not enabled by default, I intentionally enable it after setting up my iPhone as new for the triple-click dim screen method. (Just recently I found reduced white point to replace zoom method). But my original point stands. Setting up the device as new, zoom is off.

I didn't enable it by myself and never used it but Zoom feature was enabled in my phone.

I find that hard to believe, already 3 separate people have stated its off by default, and that number will surely rise if this thread stays on the front page.

I want to reach people which also experience Home button delay lug.
I had it on my iPhone SE iOS 11.2 Public beta 4 (and previous versions of iOS 11) and today I accidentally discovered that Zoom feature was enabled in the Settings. So I turn it off cause I didn't really used it before. I was surprised but Home button delay disappear and minimizing/opening apps started to work like on iOS 10.
Maybe this lug already resolved on newer phones like iPhone 7/8, but on mine it was resolved only after disabling Zoom feature.

The lag you are referring to is not the lag that people are experiencing. Enabling any accessibility triple-click shortcut will slow down the process as its waiting to see if you are going to triple click or double click. But, the lag that is being referred to is when you click the button once, nothing happens for .25 seconds when exiting an app and returning to the home screen. They are different.

You had an extreme delay compared to the issue people are complaining about with zoom enabled. The home button behaviour for iPhone SE has not changed going from iOS 10 to 11. It has only changed for 7 and 7 plus owners going from 10 to 11.

The home button delay is not going away. Its done to give the iPhone X an unfair advantage and induce people to upgrade. It is what it is.

Accessibility shortcuts was always disabled on my phone but I still experience Home button delay until I disable Zoom feature.
Not only Home button delay but App launch delay was resolved for me today.

Zoom really slowed down your phone. Your "fast" is what everyone is used to.

Did you saw my video?
Home button delay issue was completely resolved for me.
Now Home button works like in iOS 10.

If I turned it back, lug will come back.
I can capture another video, if you are not believe.

Clean install iOS 11 does not have Zoom enabled and this is how it behaves on iOS 11. Home button delay is not fixable by user

Kind of like similar things were done in early days of iOS 10...only to be resolved by later days of iOS 10.

But I didn't enable it.
So maybe there are another people which complain about Home button slow down after upgrade and don't even know the case.

The previous thread about this basically went nowhere in circles for a while before it got closed...doesn't seem like anything different would apply to this one.

If you think that home button is fast you have no idea how much faster it was on iOS 10 before Apple gimped it

That accessibility delay is something different from the one being mentioned on the iPhone 7.

We are already in the later days of iOS 11. We have almost reached iOS 11.2 final. iOS 11.3 isnt going to wave a magic wand and fix all these issues. Maybe iOS 12 will be the new iOS 10. We can hope

So you guys are saying that you can close apps of the middle of launch like on another video?
Because I could do this only on iOS 10 and after disable Zoom feature.

We're only about 2 months into iOS 11. Those x.3 updates have a history of including performance improvements so who knows..
