Guides to installing 3rd party apps?

With the release of a native ichat app for the iphone today, now I am interested in hacking the phone. I am tired of waiting for apple to get us a damn chat program, so...


How do you do this? Are there any guides online to installing this "installer.app" and then the chat program?
