I just bought a black-book for my daughter. She proceeded to install Guitar Hero 3 for mac. Found out that the installed video card,Intel GMA X3100, is not compatible or powerful enough to run this game. The company suggested the NVIDIA GeForce 7300, 7600, 8600, the NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500, and the ATI Radeon X1600, X1900, HD 2400, HD 2600.

I am looking for something under $100 that will run this game. Anyone have any experience with any of these cards?

Is it easy to self install one of these for the macbook? Any suggestions and or instructions would be most helpful. Thanks!

you cant install a video card in a macbook

to put it simply, you need a new computer with dedicated graphics

my advice is to take the game back as there is NO way for it to run on the macbook

frets on fire is a free version of guitar hero that you can configure to work with the guitar hero guitar. this WILL work on the macbook

heres a link if you are interested http://fretsonfire.sourceforge.net/
