With Guitar Hero III being released for Windows and Mac In the near future.. I was wondering how the macbook would handle it?? Would the the graphics be too much for the machine to handle??

No one can really say for sure I'm guessing, but given the graphics in GH I and II I would say it wouldn't be a problem. They're fairly simplistic in comparison to many games.

I'm sure the MacBook will run it fine. It'd be dumb for the developers to exclude a large portion of the Mac-market.

You should be good unless...

If they go the route of the 'wrapping' of Windows software in Cider (was that what it was called?) to make it play on OS X (as I believe has been done to the EA games that made their way to the Mac) then you might not be ok.

Disclaimer : I have absolutely NO IDEA if that will be what happens, or if there will be an actual port, I'm not flaming I'm just pointing out the possibility.

Someone with greater knowledge about the whole Mac gaming EA thing should jump in now and explain more.

PS : I know that Aspyr is publishing GH3 not EA.

here is what i found

RECOMMENDED SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:

* Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHZ or AMD Athlon Dual Core 4400+
* 256 MB 3D Hardware Accelerator Card
* Video Card (ATI): Radeon HD 2600
* Video Card (Nvidia): Geforce 8600 GT
* 2 GB RAM

Notice: Some Mobile and Desktop 3D accelerator cards with the chipset listed here may not be compatible with the 3D acceleration features utilized by Guitar Hero 3. Please refer to your hardware manufacturer for 100% DirectX compatibility.

I just recently heard an interview with Glenda Adams from Aspyr Media and she said that the graphics of GHIII are a lot more complex then they actually seem.

Aspyr are working hard that there will be a version also for PPC users but I doubt they could manage it to make this game run on an Intel GMA950 graphics chip.

The Recommended System Requirements are totally different form the actual system requirements .. you can see them on aspyr.com

Hot damn those requirements are SERIOUSLY steep. 2.4 C2D, seriously? 256MB MINIMUM??? What apart from a Mac Pro comes with a Graphics Card with MORE than 256?

Ok, so I've got the newest model of the iMac. 20 inch. Do you think it'll have all the system requirements. I know that it's got the Intel Core 2 Duo cept it's just 2 GHz. ATI Radeon HD 2400 and I think it's just 1 GB RAM but I'm not for sure...:confused:

Aspyr posted the Mac system requirements... it says integrated graphics wont work but do you think i should still trying it on my new macbook??

I'm afraid I don't think you will be able to play it.

Games just continue to get more and more graphics intensive and unforunately apple's design ethos of small, slim and as quiet as possible doesn't allow for alot of the hardware that is required anymore.

ATIs latest offerings (HD38XX) seem to offer some hope for mac gamers in the form of fantastic performance to power efficiency ratios.

That's ridiculous, 2.4ghz C2D? Honestly, 95% of PC laptops and desktops that are sold are WAYYYYYY under this. I dont see how they expect many computers to even support this game.

Again, that is the recomended requirements. The minimum requirement is 2.0 Ghz. While that is still quite high, it is more realistic. I might buy GH3 myself for my iMac...

That is so ridiculous. There are essentially no graphics in GH, just gameplay. That may be a little harsh but the character models certainly don't look nearly as good as other current games. As far as the system reqs, it's just hard to believe they're that high, I don't see any reason a Core Duo shouldn't be able to run GH just fine.

I have a solution to your problem: get the console version. If you have a PlayStation 2 or an XBox 360 this game is available for it and it'll run without major issues. I know this costs money, but Mac gaming from EA was never good or hasn't been good lately, or so I've heard.

I have just totally give up on any hope of guitar hero on a macbook.... too bad there's no guitar hero for Nintendo 64:p cuz thats the most recent thing i got..

macbook users

if you have a macbook (any one) and your running boot camp to
xp or vista to play guitar hero III or going to, DON'T! it wont work with the graphics card. every other aspect of macbooks fit with the system requirements EXCEPT the graphics card. I tried playing it and it said the graphics card i have was not supported. I didn't but the cheapest macbook either. i bought the 120GB hard drive one. the graphics card on this is an intel GMA 950 with 64MB of memory wich is no where near the MINIMUM requirements so don't be like me and blow 80 bucks on nothing.
