Hello.

I just got a white mac book 2.4 with 2 gigs ram and I installed Guitar Hero 3 hoping to rock out.

The game runs totally fine until just before one actually gets to play (i.e. all the menus / game intro videos etc play fine).

I see a crowd and a stage and its starts to zoom in as if I am about to start playing and then the video freezes! I can still hear the sound of the crowd.

It makes the mac book crash so bad that force quit does nothing and I have to shut the laptop down.

Can it be that this new laptop cannot play games? :(

Please help if you can.

Thanks for your time. Andy.

Hopefully you looked at what you were buying before doing so. Guitar Hero 3 states that it requires dedicated graphics (ATi X1600/nVidia 7300) as well. I expect the GMA X3100 to possibly handle a slideshow but I doubt that it's playable. I'd suggest a MacBook Pro.

What a total bummer. I wanted to rock out so bad.

looks like the mac book is lame at some things then.

Does this mean that any video based will be rubbish then.

Also I thought this laptop would be a step up from my 4 year old powerbook for games... maybe not then???

Some 3D games are going to to be sluggish or unplayable on the integrated graphics on the Macbook.

Better CPU speed, but worse GPU. So it depends on the game. The modern equivalent of a Powerbook is a Macbook Pro. The Macbook is more like the iBook.

Changed that for you.

Except even the iBook had a dedicated graphics card.

guitar

hello andy!
Do you used a guitar for mac?
i'm trying to get my guitar from ps2 working on mac, but it's being really hard to work.
do i need any drivers?

cheers!

finally i got it!
ok, sooooo.....

i did not have to patch it to the more recent version. actually the game start crashing with the 1.3 version..

i did not have to download a lot of usb drivers. i contact activision, GH3 manufacturer, but they didn't have any drivers for the guitars.. in other hand, the few drivers that i have installed only atrophyed my mighty mouse, so i had to uninstall them later.

What you will need is just the GamePadCompanion 2.4! i tryed a few app like this, but it was the best one. You only have to spend 10min configuring the controllers. after you realize how it works it's very simple.

good luck everybody!
