Gulp....20" iMac ordered!

Well I finally managed to press the confirm order button earlier on a 20" iMac. After selling my G4 Mini from last August on fleabay and getting more than I originally paid for it I'm now itching to get my new iMac.

Went into the Bullring store today but ask expected they didn't have any 256mb iMacs so ordered it when I got home. Used my g/f's edu discount so got the 20" iMac, 1gb ram and 256mb gfx for £1268 so not toooo bad. Not just gotta hope the expected delivery of 1st june comes round quicker.

Oh yeah, I so nearly ended up with a white MacBook instead. Saw them for the first time today and they are seriously nice bits of kit. If only the graphics was more pokey in them I would have got one instead of the iMac as I want the iMac to replace my gaming PC as well.

And my first impression of the MacBook Pro........crud. Sorry but I just wasn't impressed. There were 6 Macbooks all with people around them and 3 MacBook Pro's with no one around. I went over and rested my hand near the trackpad...oooh tostie. Picked it up and had to put it down again as it was v.warm. Put me straight off.

Anyway, here's hoping my new iMac turns up quick. Just hope I've done the right thing.

The iMac Core Duo is a fantastic machine, and the least problematic of Apple's current Intel machines. Congrats on your purchase

Well done on the purchase, am currently in negotiations to buy the same set-up. Here on MR from Ubermac so tell her that £1000 is a fair price as it is 2nd hand and i have to collect.

Seems a stable Mac and you won't burn your hands when you type.

I had a Rev. A 17" iMac G5 that turned into a lemon, video card, power supply, and finally heating problems near the end because of a bad temp sensor. It was always noisy too, so when I took it in to get fixed and they offered a decent trade price on a new 20" Core Duo iMac I decided to buy it. It is great!!! I have had it about a week now. The only upgrade I did was add 512MB of RAM for a total of 1GB. The G5 was fast, but this is even more responsive and much better at multi-tasking. The screen is great and it is so quiet. I can't hear the fans run even if I push the processor hard. It seems like the Core Duo cools much better in the larger iMac case then it does in the MB and MB Pro. Right now it is probably the best Intel offering from Apple.

Good purchase. Great computer!

No idea. I put it on at a start price of £100 with £12 shipping and would have let it got for whatever I got. Ended up going for £491 + shipping and I only paid £450 for it with edu discount last August. Amazing!

Can't wait to get it now. Just wish Apple would build and ship it quicker Why did I have to order over a bank holiday weekend as well! Just makes it eve longer!!!

Hehe, don't worry. It's a gorgeous buy, I just switched in March from a PC to the 20" Intel iMac and I adore it. Welcome to the club
