Guy in Hong Kong needs your help!

Hi, I'm from Hong Kong and can't get my hands on iPhone until 2008. I was wondering if the "Activation" process would be required in other regions beside from US? (I bet no one in HK would buy it if activation is required)

I'm in Taiwan, not likley too see it any time soon either, but I reckon activation will probably be required all over as part of the agreement between phone carriers.

Thanks for you info. I think I'll organize a protest if the activation is required.
(I don't mind the activation but is the fact that I must stick to one service provider like AT&T in US I hate)
