A BA passenger lost his Apple AirPods on a flight from Austin, Texas, to London Heathrow, three weeks ago. Now is tracking the daily trips to and from work of the person who took the wireless headphones.

I do not see any reason why police could not retrieve them if a stolen property report is filed. I am not sure it's the best use of law enforcement time though.

Sadly, something like this would be a very low priority for law enforcement. A report could be filed with the police, but I doubt they will do anything about it.

Give Apple a call & thank them for a feature that let’s you marvel at someone else escorting your AirPods around town…& how you can’t do anything about it.
