H.264 hardware acceleration with ATI?

Since the new quad-core iMacs only have ATI GPUs, does anyone know if Snow Leopard will have H.264 hardware acceleration on ATI GPUs?
I wonder if the general move to ATI GPUs is a sign that Apple will be moving away from nVidia as it has been rumored.
