I can't believe there isn't a hack/mod to enable this *very basic* function that Sony Ericsson phones have had for years.

There is currently no way to switch to the next song without going into iPod and doing it manually (unless you buy special headphones). The way its done on other phones is using the volume control buttons, when you hold them down for 2-3 seconds it goes to the next/previous song.

Really, really simple. Maybe someone can pass this along to an iphone dev ;)

Double-click the microphone on the headphones to move to the next song. Single-click to pause.

No. You actually think I use the crappy apple headphones? There is NO reason not to implement this feature - thats why I'm calling on 3rd party devs to consider it.

1. I doubt a 3rd party app could do this, unless it had it's own music player. Apps run in a sandbox-like environment and have little interaction with other apps, including Apple made apps.

2. Just double click the home button while a song is playing and you'll have control to change songs. It even works while the phone is locked.

Duh. I'm talking about unofficial mods, i.e. only for jailbroken devices. Shouldn't be hard to make, but it would be extremely useful. Turning the screen on every time and pressing buttons is annoying, not to mention a (small) waste of battery power.

Had mine for a year, use them almost every day. They're still fine. Go take yours in.

Ditto on this, I've never had the default headphones fail on me with any iPod/iPhone product - which is surprising considering all the complaints I hear about them.
