I am hacking a phone for a friend, She is buying an iphone used. I planned on hacking the iphone with out her SIM installed and once it is done she will just move her current SIM card to her new iphone. If this is done will she have to restore it to activate it? Also, I do not need to have it unlocked to use a different carrier, it is all AT&T

I know how to unlock it, It is 1.1.2 and I have done it before. My question is can it be done with out a sim card?

When I 'jailbroke' an iPhone for a relative I did so without the simcard that is being used in it now but it did have an unregistered O2 PAYG sim card in the tray at the time, so I suspect that a sim card is not vital to the process as the sim card was non-functioning.

I may be wrong about that however because at least it had a simcard inserted in the tray.

i also have a iphone that i am hacking for my friend and it is a 1.0 iphone. waht do i need to do? i have the 1.1.1 restore file should i just restore it to 1.1.1 and then jailbreak using jailbreakma.com and then install the appslike oktoprep. it can be used with out the sim but he wants to use it with t-mobile and i want to install installer so do i need to install the update for 1.1.1 first? thanks alot.
