So I just found out what a jail broken Apple tv can do now I want one :)

Is it hard to jailbreak it? I want to get icefilms. I can get a used atv2 on craiglist for 60 or 70 and people are offering to jailbreak for 40 bucks.

I have had my wii hacked and paid for it because it I didn't want to download 200+ games as it would have taken forever.

Any one have good links about jailbreaking the Apple TV2?

First, it's really easy. And by icefilms, I assume you mean the DivX player? I can't speak to that player specifically, but if it's broad format compatibility you want, there are a few options there.

Basic jailbreak instructions:
Note that you'll need a micro-USB cable.

Plex:
Plex/Nine is a flexible Media Center made up by two major components - the Plex Media Server and numerous Plex Clients. This lets you create a true server-based Media Center where information about all your media is stored in one single location. Plex/Nine also gathers information or metadata about your media and displays it in the Client making choosing which show to watch a rich and pleasant experience.

XMBC: I had an xmbc plugin link at some point, but I can't find it now. Others can probably speak to it better than I can.

NitoTV also might do what you'd like.

Also, you could avoid the process altogether and just remux your divx files to work with iTunes. Chances are that if you're using a divx container, they're not too high a quality anyway ;)

Once you jailbreak (I used seas0npass) and install XBMC (I used Firecore's ATVFlash) then you can install the Icefilms plugin:

You could also just download the AVIs to your computer and then stream them over the network to ATVFlash's integrated Media Player. Works great, no transcoding needed.

Once installed, the extra flexibility you get on the AppleTV is great. Highly recommended.
