I have a hackintosh, that I run C4D R14 on OSX 10.8 and it runs well for the most part

I dediced to run cinebench in OSX and Windows 7 to compare the differences between the speed of the OS on the exact same hardware

My Machine config

Intel i7 2.93 Ghz Quad Core
12gb ram
ATI 5770 1GB GPU
Dual 1920x1080 monitors

Results

Windows 7 64Bit

Open GL - 59.28 FPS
CPU - 4.92 pts
CPU Single - .99pts
MP Ratio - 4.96

OSX 10.8 64Bit

Open GL - 30.03 FPS
CPU - 4.65 pts
CPU Single - .91 pts
MP Ratio - 5.12x

Im surpsied that my open GL scores are twice as fast in Windows 7
Viewport speed in C4D R14 is my biggest complaint with Cinema 4D
and i use it constantly

I love OSX but this makes me want to swtich to Windows 7

Graphics drivers on OS X are always behind Windows, sometimes by a very large margin.

NVidia and AMD (ATI) are getting better but still haven't caught up.

Yeah that's just the way it is, Windows has better OpenGL drivers. The score your getting seems about right. I ran the same benchmark a while back and I thought there was something wrong with my iMac, but apparently the scores are always lower on the OSX side..

Also don't be too concerned about people who say Hackintosh's don't work well. They have no idea =P

What is your hackintosh motherboard make and model? Processor model #? What/Who's installation method did you use?

There are several possible solutions to the low scores depending upon your major components and how your installation's System Definition (MacProX,Y) is handling the Speedstep and power management.

Cave Man,
Long time, no sea (said the sailor who just crossed the desert). :) How is your ATV 1gen eSATA working? Hackintosh? Click on the Hackintosh in my sig blk to see my latest build.

Windows XP and Windows 7 are the best OS versions for 3D applications, video encoding and similar tasks.

OS X is great in the office or for software development.
