My computer has simply become an ongoing struggle. I've reinstalled tiger many times, I take perfect care of it: HD kept nearly empty, no sketchy software, etc.
The following problems occur on a daily basis: upon waking from sleep, the mouse cursor will not appear and the computer will remain frozen for several minutes. Sometimes, for no reason that is apparent it will simply freeze up and take several minutes to go back to working, (the entire OS will freeze) sometimes accompanied by increased fan noise: this will happen under normal OS work. Performance is at best, well below potential. When running Logic 7.1 Express I am having multitudes of problems. My audio interface (which I have the newest drivers for installed) will frequently stop being recognized by the program. Sometimes when I activate phantom power again the program will recognize it, but more often this will freeze the entire OS.
To be honest, I continue to consider selling my computer. Problem is, I want to keep my nice monitor for use with Logic. So it means I can't really get an iMac, the mini is not powerful enough and I don't have enough money to shell out for a new (upcoming) Powerbook. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I wouldn't be getting very much for a first gen Power Mac G5, right? It's got a gig of RAM and an upgraded vid card as you can see from my sig, plus an added USB interface.
Anyone experiencing similar problems? Is it worth it taking it in to an Apple Store or reseller and throwing cash at the problem?
