... and its already in the shop!!!!

No yellowing issues thankfully but dirt under the screen and a faulty superdrive that only works when the screen isn't tilted!!!!

Massive PITA getting a 27" to the store, Apple helpful as ever though! Its my first time using the Genius Bar, apparently they need access to my admin account - is this normal?
I was a bit reluctant as I have work stuff on it not to mention some glorious HD porn :p
but the admin account was needed to run tests that could not be done under a guest account?

I'm stuck with my 13" MacBook for a week :(

How can there be so many problems with the 27s???

Because you can't do anything system related without admins pass. If you open something, it asks for admins pass.

I'm sure geniuses have seen all, and why would they care about if you had porn there?

27" iMac is rev A, meaning that it hasn't been mass produced before hitting the stores.

well, they might not care but i do! and "oh its a rev a" is no excuse for the piss poor QC!!!
fair enough with the admin account though...

a day and a half for me

I got mine yesterday. The fan is a little louder then I expected but I think I'm nitpicking. Probably just got used to the fan in my old one and since this is in a quieter room, I probably notice it more then if it was by the kids and wife. Anyway, knock on wood, no problems. Maybe I just got lucky.....screen is great, sound is great, super-duper fast.....

I upgraded from the 20" and running side by side, the 27" is slightly louder but not by much - but waking from sleep the 27 is silent compared to the clunky noise the 20 makes (with the superdrive and fan)
Glad you got a decent one, I think overall they are starting to sort the screen issue

The i5 is 95W chip while the CPUs in 20" were 35-45W

Nobody believed on i5 before they were released as they are so hot so it's not a surprise that it's little louder as it's more than twice as hot!

Cool, cant wait to get it back. I hate using my macbook as my main computer :(

lol don't worry about your porn, I'm sure they won't snoop around your computer looking for it. Besides, chances are 90% of the people who bring their computers in have porn on their HDDs.

The good thing about all this is that you found the issue soon, and will get your computer back fixed. Hopefully this will be your last trip there.

I thought I'd just get a repair as it seems to be one of the good ones! No yellowness!
As for the porn, it's pretty standard stuff but it's not hidden. I'm not too bothered about it but it could be slightly embarrasing when I go to pick it up!
Hopefully they don't use my macrumors account!
