Haha....my iPhone lost it's sense of direction!

So i was listening to music in coverflow mode and dosed off to the music and the phone eventually dosed off as well after completing the album playback. When i woke up to go back to normal iPod mode and switch playlists i get this:

Fixed by resetting but wondering what could've been the cause
