I've got a Macbook Pro (Penryn 2.4) and I thought I would have a go at installing Half-Life 2 on my Bootcamp partition, seeing as I can't play it under Leopard!
Installed it no problem, fired it up and set the resolution to 1440x900 (16:10) with most details settings on high, hoping the 8600M GT would provide powerful enough and I was really satisfied...40-60fps which is pretty damn good IMHO
Problem was, even though I had set the fan speed at 4,000rpm with smcFanControl before I rebooted into Bootcamp...after about 10min the fan speeds started to pick up and before I knew it they were at 6,000rpm!
I used speedFan under Windows XP to double check and the CPU Cores were over 60ºC (not unusual as I got the same temps with Quake 4 under Leopard) but the NVidia GPU has nearly hitting 90ºC!
Just wondering...is this normal?
