I was one of the numerous people to have bought version 1 of Halide years ago, and subsequently gotten a free upgrade to version 2.

Is there a list of features that are currently behind the paywall for people who got a free upgrade? I see just a "pay $1/month / $70 lifetime" button, but no other info.

Yeah I'm curious about this too. I know that the app and developer is continually updating but I'd also like to know what I'm getting for that $70 lifetime purchase

I unboxed my 14 Pro Max, installed Halide and ran it.

The feature list is borderline identical to Halide running on my XR. There are a couple of ProRAW/48MP-related features and options not present on the XR, but besides that, it’s the same app.

So yeah. I have no idea what paying more will entail at this point.

Halide has a blog, which is updated intermittently, and I would think you could flip back through the entries there, dating from the point at which you stopped getting automatic updates.

I went ahead and did the one time purchase which was priced at $60 at the time, since Halide is one of the few third-party apps that I use all the time and would really miss if it went away. but I guess I don’t pay close enough attention to exactly what has been updated recently. In general, I think the changes have been more in the way of interface and user controls rather than totally new capabilities – but I could be wrong.

Apparently right now it's the lockscreen widgets that original purchases aren't getting (I don't have a newer iPhone to check). Darkroom has done the same thing where they don't give us the new mask tools.

I can confirm that the Lock Screen widget works at a basic level. You can add the widgets, but there are locks on them, and when you tap any of them, the app fires up, but in default options and with a subscription message.

I have to thank you for your post. I didn’t realize that the widget functionality was one that was behind the paywall until I saw your comment. The subscription prompt did not explicitly say that Lock Screen widgets were locked, only that my free year ended in 2021.
