i am looking for a copy of halo for mac but i am at a loss.

The Mac version of Halo is no longer being produced. The only way to obtain a legitimate copy is from a site like ebay, they are outrageously expensive though.

The download is for the universal binary update. You still need a CD key.

Try Half.com, you may get lucky & find somebody listing a used copy at/around MSRP ($30) - I did.

I got a copy off ebay for 60, I was lucky. They run over 100 bucks... and the universal binary, while a bit faster and better rendering than the power PC version, isn't worth it if you ask me. You're better off getting the PC version and running it under XP... I found it looks better, runs faster, and generally has better connection speeds. Unless of course, installing windows isn't an option... but it's a cheaper route with better gameplay.
