Does anyone know where I can by a new copy of Halo Combat Evolved for my mac. I have looked all around but I can't seem to find one.

Thanks :)

They discontinued it a while back but there should still be copies available.

Halo for Mac is impossible to find in Australia too. It is out of print and everyone who bought it is holding on to their copies. You would think that with the Universal Binary port it would be re-published or at least included in one of those compilation packs but no. Too bad. It is one of the few games I would buy for my new iMac.

try http://www.gameswarehouse.com.au/ i got mine there months ago, just search on the mac section.

Thanks for the tip but they do not have Halo in stock. Besides, even if they did have it there is no guarantee that it would be playable on a new iMac with OS X 10.4.11. I have tried demos of Prey, Colin McRay and Quake 4 with mixed results; Prey did not launch, McRay had textures missing and Quake 4 had no sound. Games on Mac seem to be suffering due to this PPC to Intel transition. One more reason to rely on consoles I guess.

ya its lame. since i got my new MBP, halo doesnt work with it. Now i guess i have to try and find a 2.0.0 version of halo for mac :S

Check your local Fry's electronics. (outpost.com for locations.) They may have some excess Mac games in stock. Otherwise eBay is your best bet.

Not sure where you live but I bought the new universal version from my local Mac store down here in New Zealand.

Side note - Has anyone upgraded to Leopard 10.5.1? My Halo is now exhibiting some strange graphic glitches now!

Wow, I should have kept my copies. Gave them away years ago to keep me from playing HALO while I was in school. Now that I'm out....

I'm stuck in my room with the flu while my family enjoys Thanksgiving, so I grabbed my Universal Binary copy of Halo and fired it up on my Black MacBook for the first time. It keeps crashing when I shoot or throw grenades. I figured I needed an update or something so I searched and found 2.0.2.

It's asking me to locate the previous version of the Halo Universal, but when I do, it won't let me click on the application to continue. Everything is grayed out. Does anyone know how I can tell what version of Halo I have? Or, does anyone know how I can get the patch to install?

I purchased the CD version from MacSoft on 9/4/2006, which is shortly after they released the Universal Binary version.

Thanks.

continuing the halo debacle

let's see...i have been searching for about three weeks for a copy of halo....as I understand (and someone posted up above) it's been discontinued...which sucks...i found one on ebay (which is the only place i believe you'll ever locate one now....there, or someplace like it) and had the winning bid until the last minute, i was gonna pay $20....dude that won it paid $75. Then I found another one on some similar place where people sell used games online...it was $75 too....I refuse to do that, like the guy said, i'd just buy an xbox...i love halo, and want to play it, and i want to play it on my laptop is the thing....i'm not switching to a pc....i'm a mac convert who isn't going back....and you can't very well take an xbox and all that entails around with you like i do my ibook. (it's an ibook G4 i bought two years ago new.....i dunno how great it is or anything, i don't know much about computers and this is the first mac i've ever used...but i love it...i dunno why i'm giving all this information...i just registered and this is my first post....i actually registered to hopefully find help locating a copy of halo....) Anyway...so it's discontinued, you can only get used copies...the lady at the apple store i went to told me that they've been expecting a shipment of halo since they opened a few months ago, but it still hasn't shown up.....i guess she doesn't know they aren't making any new ones....i dunno when they stopped production.....i went to compusa and the guy told me they had a copy, we went back the mac games.....not a one, but they had the slot, and he said they had a copy yesterday and he'd email me back when they got more in.....this is in b'ham, AL........i don't think they'll be getting anymore. Anyway.....i guess it's good to do a long first post, but i need to go now...i think i put in everything. Anybody has a copy for sale, or hears anything, let me know.

Thats some story. Two things I would say:

1. When you have reached the necessary post count (100 posts), you could post a 'WTB' ad in Marketplace.

2. Try separating your future posts into paragraphs, and use punctuation (instead of '...'). It's much easier for us to read them that way.

Not trying to be mean, just a little tip.

Oh, and welcome to the forum.
