so, my boy wanted to borrow 4x non-ECC 4gb sticks to put in his windows computer. I told him to grab the ram out of my backup Mac Pro CPU tray. He returns with his 4x 2gb and asks if he should put his ram in the tray so I have something in there. He proceeds to somehow break the #3 DIMM slot. Not just break it, but snap off the levers on both sides, and the edges exposing 2 or 3 pins on each side, as well as bend some of the pins near the notch! Sigh, at least it’s my backup single-CPU tray and not my dual...

I’ve started calling him “Hamfist McGee.” I mean, come on, dude, you’re going to college to get your computer repair degree!

Did he use a steel hammer or a rubber mallet to seat the DIMMs? ;)

And why is the #2 DIMM bent into an arc?

Wow, that's a $70 to $80 replacement tray bill just for a memory swap. I hope he learned the lesson, but everyone did damaged in the past - that's how we learn.
