Hand off and Continuity (Please see my setup thread for solutions)

Is it me or are both these features wonky right now? I've search Google for any type of setup information on how to get these to work and for the life of me I cannot.

1. I verified that my Macbook Pro does have the correct version of Bluetooth that supports the feature (per an article by Rene Ritchie of iMore).

2. My MBP is on DP4, iPhone is on iOS 8 Beta 4.

3. Both devices are connected to the same Wifi network

4. Both devices have the same iCloud account logged in.

5. I tried pairing my iPhone with the MBP although sites indicated I didn't need to.

6. Hand off is enabled on Both the MBP and the iPhone.

before DP4 was installed I did notice a phone icon in my contacts with an option to "use iPhone". that option is no longer there now for any contact.

What am I missing?

Ive opened Safari on the MBP and have no seen an icon on my iPhone lock screen. Done the reverse and have not seen an icon popup on the left side of the dock on the MBP. Tried opening maps, mail and other listed apps that are suppose to work and they do not.

I have EXACTLY the same thing.
Im just trying to get the messages / calling syncing between my retina MBP and iPhone5.

Same iCloud account / wifi network.

I can only send imessages as per normal.
Cannot send SMS's to non iDevices, and calling does not appear on my mac.

I can't answer calls or send SMS, no Safari, Mail or other data is being passed along.

There is no reference to it in system preferences / Messages preferences or on the iphone itself.

The only indication is on the OSX Yosemite DP2 I got a notification on my Mac that said "You can now receive calls and messages from your mac".

I'm kinda on the same thing here, except after installing Beta 4 for iOS 8, there is no Handoff setting for iPhone 4S.

But I can still get calls on my mac and call from the mac and pick up the SMSs, but can't reply back - messages just crashes on the Mac.

Really itching to know what's going on.

Settings > General Hand off > iOS

there is a setting for it but beyond on/off nothing else.

On my 4S the handoff option disappeared with DP4. There on 5S.

Only had Handoff working briefly.

To be truly comparable the rMBP needs to be 2013 or later. The original 2012 model doesn't have ac WiFi

According to the information provided by iMore my MBP does qualify. I did see a Safari icon briefly in my dock when I opened it on my iPhone but that was hours ago. Nothing is working now.

Also if you're looking for a setting toggle for handling calls either from your iPad or mac then go into the settings in the FaceTime app and make sure you enable the option to make cellular calls through the app.

This may be the key information I'm missing. I'll look into it tonight.

Not ac. Continuity needs 5Ghz band, which 4s does not have.

Yeah I saw that setting.
I assumed handoff was for the transition of mac apps to iPhone apps.
Is SMS and Calling to Mac called Handoff as well?

Not ac. Continuity needs 5Ghz band, which 4s does not have.

This is a good thought however, I'm running 5ghz on both my MBA mid 2011 and 5s and no go with handoff......5ghz confirmed with my Linksys WRT1900
Both of my devices of course do not handle AC but AC has to be questioned because I've read some folks here have had success with their devices and handoff
Case in point, I do not believe there are any iOS devices which currently support AC.......the handoff mystery continues

Handoff work fine on my dp3 system, it may require neither 5ghz band nor ac. But I can confirm airdrop on dp4 needs 5ghz. without 5ghz, I may detect my use idevice , but cannot make any sending/receiving data.

Beats me dude. I think all of us are in the dark how this damn thing works.

Have an update for you guys. Apparently FaceTime has to be logged in to the same iCloud account as well in order to be able to answer/make calls and you have to enable the iPhone calls option in Facetiae's preferences on the mac.

Yes. Oddly enough hand-off is also working. I didn't really change anything

Same here. iPhone 5 running B4 and a 2012 rMBP DP4 and nothing is working.
