The HandBrake team has just released the all new HandBrake 1.2.0. :) It is worth mentioning because it adds many improvements that have been desired for a long time. Among other things:

- The basic library for decoding and filtering is no longer libdav, but the much more powerful FFmpeg (4.1). This fixes several compatibility issues of the old versions and adds new features.

- The AAC encoder now supports 7.1 channels.

- An EAC3 audio stream can now be packed into the MP4 container.

- The minimum system version is now 10.10 Yosemite

- It is now possible to perform hardware-accelerated encodings in H.264 and H.265 via the VideoToolbox framework, which leads to a speed increase (2x for me). Intel® Quick-Sync (since Sandy Bridge, January 2011) or the Apple T2 processor is used. However, there are not many adjustment possibilities, the quality of the video is not quite as good as with x264 or x265 and you have to play a bit with the bitrate until you are satisfied.

- There is TouchBar support and support for macOS 10.14 DarkMode added.

- And, the user interface is now also in German (macOS and Win).

Uuh, very nice! Will look forward to upgrading. 8)

Edit: I see we got a dark mode too... And they removed Growl support. Now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time.
