Hi all,
I've been using Handbrake for about a year now. I'm not on the newest version, but on the version before that.
I've been converting my movies in hopes of setting up a way to watch them on my TV, and also to be abel to take with me when I travel. The original plan was to set up a mac mini as a HTPC, then the plan changed to getting an Apple TV, and now the plan has changed again (and will most likely stay) to getting a WD HDTV Live and plugging an external hard drive into it. When traveling I keep my movies on a small external hard drive and watch them on plex with my dell mini 9 hackintosh.
I pretty much stay with the presets and use "Universal" 99% of the time. If I'm encoding a TV show I may use some of the advanced settings (Deinterlace, detelecline, etc..) but I really have no idea what I'm doing. I always increase the Quality slider to 62-63% and go from there.
My question... am I chosing the right settings for my intended useage? Would you recommend another way to go about it to get best results? I don't need subtitles and all that good stuff. Size isn't immensely important to me with the price of storage being so low. Since I'm not suing an Apple TV, should I be looking at a different preset? I can lways convert for my ipod (5g) and my iphone with VisualHub if I need (I think).
Any pointers? Thanks!
