I'm new to handbrake but have searched everywhere and have a decent knowledge of codecs.

Ultimately I want to play movies on my new AppleTV (version2) though my MBP using iTunes 10.

Following the How-To: Automate DVD... thread I downloaded the linked CLI version of Handbrake. After testing it out I realized it would be easy enough to be it manually--most my films are foreign and for encoding I would need to hand select subtitles and audio tracks anyhow. I went back to the link and downloaded the Handbrake GUI.

I began encoding some DVDs I ripped, but quickly realized when I clicked them they wouldn't import into iTunes. I tried "Adding" them into iTunes and nothing happens, no error or anything. I tried playing in QT and I get a message saying it cannot play in quicktime because "An invalid sample description was found in the movie."

I realized I was importing using the Regular Normal and I also did the Regular High Profile settings, not Apple. But it appears as if they have similar capabilities.

I then noticed the GUI version I downloaded was version# svn3688 x86_64 (2010113001) but the current release is Version 0.9.4 x86_64 (2009112300). The differences I can tell is the current release (which is dated before my release?) doesn't have mp3 capabilities.

Why does the linked how-to say to download this "other" version of handbrake that had mp3 capabilities and is that why it won't work in iTunes/QT?
