(I know this should probably be on the relevant products forums, but they're both blocked at work and I know a few of the devs hang out here
)
I got thinking after answering a question about matching TV show episodes to disk titles, isn't there an automatic way of doing this like Gracenote/CDDB does for CDs?
That would make the whole process really straightforward: Pop in the disk and details are downloaded. You can then pick the title you want to rip by name (rather than just guessing by size, or checking in the DVD player first) and encode it with all the metadata automatically included.
Does anything exist that can do this? I see Gracenote maintain a database of DVD/Blu Ray details. Do the entries have enough info to support this?
