Hello!
I have recently purchased the seasons for a tv show, and episodes are grouped 6-7 a disc. When i put in a disc to rip them, it rips all the episodes into one large file. I can't individually choose episodes to rip. Is there any way i can rip each episode individually rather than having large files as batches of episodes? Thanks in advance!

If I'm not mistaken, Handbrake looks for the longest title when it loads up a source. Frequently TV shows on DVD have a "play all" title, which will of course be the longest.

You need to select title, and add each individual episode to the queue.

When I try to select the title, it only has the large file, a smaller yet still combined one (for some "marathon" mode thing), and a couple small ones. Here is what i mean:

Handbrake won't be able to do anything with that. In the past, I've made multiple copies of the one big rip, and used QT Pro to Trim to Selection for each episode.

There might be a better solution, though (and I'd be interested in knowing it, too!)

Ah, I see.

Is there any free application that could do the same thing (not iMovie though, it would take forever!)

If not, I'd be glad to purchase QT Pro for this sole purpose!

Thank you very much!

Is it possible that each episode is a range of chapters maybe ? Could run a quick check in dvd player app and note the title number and chapters during each episode. Personally never had one like that but was just thinking...

dynaflash is right, I`ve had disks like this before. There is 1 long title but each episode is a different chapter range eg:-

chapters 1-6 is episode 1
chapters 7-12 is episode 2
chapters 13-18 is episode 3

Just keep adding the same title to the Handbrake queue with different start and end chapter points. You`ll need to play the dvd in a dvd player and make a note of which chapters correspond to each episode.

^ this. It's how I've ripped similar TV shows and it works just fine.

Brilliant. Much easier than what I've done in the past.

Thank you everyone! dynaflash's idea worked wonders, and i am now ripping flawlessly!

One more question; for TV shows, is MetaX or Lostify better for tagging?

Either will work, but I usually use Lostify for TV shows. For whatever reason I just started doing it that way and I am pretty fast at entering the data now. Then I just add the artwork in iTunes.

Alright. Do you have any websites with TV Show artwork?

Getvideoartwork is about the best for itunes ready artwork, I carn`t think of any other good ones that dont require a lot of editing of the artwork. Maybe if you tell us the show your looking for we can better help. Also getvideoartwork take requests on the forum and are pretty good at filling them.
