I have only used handbreak a few times, I always went with Mactheripper to make things easy for my back ups. My main problem with handbreak was the settings. Can someone tell me (us) the best way to use handbreak settings for DVD to iPad quality movie viewing? (yes I know it will have to be done on a computer first), but of course this is for DVD to iPad, Not for DVD to DVD burns.
For example I would like to put my RUSH concert DVD's on my iPad. Which i own legally... Always give RUSH the money they deserve.

I hsve been using the apple tv setting in handbreak and my movies come out wonderfully. There was a discussion about this pretty recently more in depth so you might want to try and search around page 2 and 3 for it.

Ps: there is a handbreak thread 3 or 4 post down from this.

Universal is what I'm using for iPad/:apple:TV
It's perfect.

Even did this with the DVD from the Avatar bluray/DVD combo and quality is fantastic on the :apple:TV even.

Universal Preset

Definitely go with the "Universal" preset. The quality is great and the file size isnt too bad, a bit more than a gig for a 4GB Dvd.
And best of all, you can use that video on all of your "idevices." Drop it into iTunes and then sync it with your iPad, iPod, iPhone, AppleTv, etc.
