Had a few minutes to spare and thought I would make a charging base for my new Apple Watch. Steps below:

1. I found a nice small block of red cedar I had lying around.
2. Drilled a hole in middle with 1" wood spade drill bit.
3. Using a whittling knife, I enlarged the hole slightly till the charger fit snugly. I also only drilled deep enough so that the charger would be about 1/2 recessed into the hole. I wanted 1/2 above for the watch to sit on.
4. I wittled out a nice channel for the cable to fit into.
5. Sanded the edges and inside the hole and channel, and voila!

I plan on putting non-skid bumpers on the base so it doesn't slide around.

Tomorrow I am going to drill a hole on the bottom side to make popping out the charger a little easier.

Here's something simple that I did with a painters stick stained in black to match the shelf and Command double sided sticky tape to attach the charging puck.

I've also had a bash at a dock/stand. Still needs finishing but I'm reasonably happy considering it started life as some scrap firewood.

A new idea on a "case"

I've been keeping an eye on some of the stands and cases for the :apple: watch and there are so real good options but for the moment and until the market evolves a little more I'm going to hold on a purchase.

Every night I plug in my iPhone and open a drawer next to my bed to cradle it while it charges overnight. What I am going to do once my watch arrives is drill aligned holes through the back of the dresser and the drawer, run the charging cables through that and just trust my socks to keep everything safe at night. A plus is that this will also hide the cords!

Not a fancy project, I will take a picture when it's done and the socks are clean.

That is nice. I like the flat designs also.

This was my custom wood stand.

Pricey for those handmade stands in natural wood but do look surprisingly quite stylish and high quality.

Always preferred something less bulky but for someone like me who is likely to dock the watch at home on my wooden wardrobe this is great. Except for the price :(

Order from metacove1 finally came! This dock is pretty awesome! Thanks dude!

You are very welcome. I had a great time making these. I'm working on the last batch I plan on making for awhile. I will be posting them on eBay tomorrow. I will have a link to my eBay store in my signature soon.

Thanks again for everyone who pm'ed me about them.
