Handoff and continuity question

I have a iPhone. 5s running iOS 7.1.2 and a mid 2010 MacBook Pro running osx 10.10 and I was wandering how do make phone calls and SMS messages also will it support handoff and other continuity features

No it will not until you run iOS 8 on your 5s
Continuity will work, but not 100% sure if your 2010 MB has BT 4.0 LE and can handle handoff

Handoff=No you need wifi ac (at least for DPs and Public Betas)
Continuity= No you need bt 4.0 Le

By release they may change the requirements but as of now you don't have what it needs
