Damn, I was just about to try it on mine. AFAIK, the mid-2011 MBA should be compatible.

If you have BT 4.0 you probably need to run the modded kext in the other thread.

You also need AC WiFi, the kext mod makes it load ac kext

With DP3, there are now board id checks for the 802.11n (BCM4331 and BCM4353) parts in a canLoad() function in the KEXT:

__dev0x4331ValidLoadDriverBoardIds and __dev0x4353ValidLoadDriverBoardIds

Should I assume then if my MB Air mid 2011 does not support Wifi AC then I'm out of the game for handoff?

Heres what my Wifi reads:
Supported PHY Modes: 802.11 a/b/g/n

TY

To be honest, we need to see what Apple ship at least in the public beta to get an idea of what the support is going to be. It appears to be in flux and active development at the moment.

Running DP4 on MB Air mid 2011

Me neither running Mac Mini mid-2011 which apparently is the first of the Mac Minis to support the Continuity features. I saw the option in DP1, however.

I have Macbook Air Mid 2011 as well and handoff is not working for me either eventhough phone calls are coming through to my Mac. As others stated here the handoff on/off option was present on DP1 although it didn't realy work. The system info doesn't show handoff options so as already has been established on this forum and many others it seems the wifi a/c is currently a triger for this great feature. I have seen it work perfectly fine between iPad Air and iPhone 5s and neither one of them has wifi a/c so I am hoping handoff will eventualy work on at least on all macs that has Bluetooth 4. But if Apple has financial gain in mind, they may just use wifi a/c as an excuse to omit this option. They may even omit from all old ios devices if they add wifi a/c to new iphone and ipads.

Although I never used DP1-3, I merely installed DP1 to access the updates to get through to DP4 straightaway, I did see the handoff option in DP1 the brief few moments I had it installed. But I've not seen it in DP4 or 5 on my mid-2011 Mac Mini even though supposedly it has the correct bluetooth hardware installed.

Starting in DP3 the presence of Handoff checkbox has nothing whatsoever to do with BT.

100% based on the OS loading 94360 wifi next

There is a hack to do this

I can remove BT entirely and still get Handoff option

So if I understand correctly it depends on the wifi, isn't it?

I have a MBA mid 2011 and I did not understand which is the problem

Can you telling me what I need to do to enable handoff?

EDIT:
I understand that is a kext problem :)

if I try to load the kext 94360 on this card

Tipo di scheda: AirPort Extreme (0x14E4, 0xE9)
Versione firmware: Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (5.106.98.100.24)

might work?

Have the will, can't find the way...

Running Yosemite DP v5 and ios8 v5, logged into both with same ".mac" and ".icloud" Apple IDs, on an iPhone 5 and a mid-2011 MBA that seems to be the model that should work:
Apple Bluetooth Software Version: 4.3.0b8 14558
Hardware, Features, and Settings:
Name: BHWMBA
Address: 10-40-F3-83-8C-27
Bluetooth Low Energy Supported: Yes
Manufacturer: Broadcom
Transport: USB
Chipset: 20702A3
Firmware Version: v143 c5755
Bluetooth Power: On
Discoverable: On
Connectable: Yes
Auto Seek Pointing: On
Remote wake: On
Vendor ID: 0x05AC
Product ID: 0x821F
HCI Version: 0x6
HCI Revision: 0x167B
LMP Version: 0x6
LMP Subversion: 0x228F
Device Type (Major): Computer
Device Type (Complete): Mac Portable
Composite Class Of Device: 0x38010C
Device Class (Major): 0x01
Device Class (Minor): 0x03
Service Class: 0x1C0
Auto Seek Keyboard: On

I get the phone calls and texts both ways, but further handoff/continuity integration (of course, no "handoff toggle" in system prefs, either.) Nothing with Mail, Safari, etc, no cross-platform icons, etc...

Any suggestions would be appreciated...

I think it's a problem related to the kext of WIFI module.

I tried to load a modified kext for MBP but it does not work the same ...

I give up
