Handoff from iphone to mac - not working

So here is my issue if anyone has any ideas on how to get this to work:

I have an iphone 6 with 8.0.2 installed and I have a rMBP (mid 2012) with Yosemite.

I was able to make and receive phone calls on my mbp using the handoff feature.

I was also able to do a handoff using safari from my mac to my iphone.

Everything seems to be turned on.. (bluetooth, wifi, iCloud, setting on mac and iphone)

The issue that I'm having is that I can't do the handoff from my phone to my computer. Once I start an email on my phone or even go on safari, nothing happens on my computer.

Anyone have any idea why? and how can I get this to work? I have a feeling it might be a glitch from apple and so I might have to wait for an update but just wondering if there was anything else that maybe I didn't do that might help?

I restarted the phone and computer, turned off and turned on wifi and bluetooth. The only thing I haven't done is log out and log back into iCloud. I'm scared of doing that because when I do it on my mac or iphone it says that by signing out, I will lose my documents, calendars and etc that are on the iCloud. I really didn't want to do that.

Soooo anyone have any solutions? Thank you all for the help!!!!!

It also works for me only one way (the other way.) Currently I see the handoff indicator on my Mac mini but not my iPhone 5. Even to get that I needed to sign off and back in to iCloud on my iMac. (You might try that - be sure you have a backup first.)
Using iOS 8.1 beta 2. Guess I'll wait a couple of days for the actual iOS 8.1 release.

I have same problem, and I don´t know why, now works

I install app in iphone, Instashare, and after the install, everything works, I don´t know if the app are the solution or just casually, because I try all methods pepole in threads talk about

Your mac requires to have Blutooth on in order to work ! Your mac must support Blutooth LE (4.0) . Mac's from early 2012 and below doesn't support Blutooth LE

Then it doesn't work. The average joe or even someone with computer knowledge won't know to do this or will want to be bothered. That's a workaround. If you have to do a workaround then it does not work. And MBA 2011 is not listed as supported.

But in the first supports, MBA 2011 are approved, I don´t know why, now are out of support, because the Macbook are prepare for works with it

I'm in the same boat brother. My 2011 iMac i7 is not listed as supported and Handoff doesn't work. I really don't know why Apple just didn't allow Handoff to work under wifi. I just did a clean install and the system works so well I don't want to fool around with the kext files. Sucks but I want full functionality. I'm going to be getting another Mac soon.

For me, the only thing that doesn't work is Safari going from the iPhone to the Mac.

I have an iPhone 6 Plus and a 2012 MacBook Air. All of the other Apple programs work perfectly between the Mac and the iPhone, except for Safari. Safari actually works going from the Mac to the iPhone, but not the other way around. It's weird.

in the earlier 10.10 beta, handoff was working and annoyed that somewhere along the way it was removed from being supported, even though the mid-2011 MBA has BT-LE4.

calls can be made & received but app handoff no longer works. Curious to see if the iMessage update due with iOS8.1 tomorrow will work or not.

Mine started working both ways today after pairing Bluetooth.

I'm not sure if it's working right though. If I start typing a message in Messages than switch to Mac/iPhone, Handoff just takes me to the contact I was texting but the message I was typing isn't there. Seems kind of pointless - may as well finish the message on the device I started on rather than start over.

I found out why Safari was not handing off from my iPhone to my Mac. The browser on the iPhone was set to Private Browsing. If that is enabled, Safari handoff won't work.

The only things that work for me are air drop, sms forwarding, and phone calls on my mac. I got it to fully work by turning off "block all incoming connections" in the firewall settings. Everything else doesn't work. If I type a message, or write an email it doesn't show up on my mac or phone. Everything is enabled and turned on for both devices.

Yup having the same issue here, I hope it's just a glitch because then that would be pointless....

There are many many posts about this, so I will submit the fix that worked for me in several threads in the hope that it helps people:

I was struggling yesterday, and was having very mixed results ranging from handoff not working at all to it working on my iPhone only. I found an article offering a suggested fix, and it worked for me.

It appears to me that the "missing link" is the FaceTime setup (this was the only article I found that referenced FaceTime settings).

In my case, I had to sign into FaceTime using my AppleID (which I believe was set in the past, possibly disconnected at some point). Anyhow, it does make sense that this would be a potential gap in Handoff functioning, and it corrected my issue immediately.

Good luck...this is clearly not an example of "it just works".

the actual handoff is working, the only thing that is not working is for example if I start a message on my phone then when the little message icon for handoff pops on my dock on my mac I click on it, the message I was writing isn't there. My question is, is the message that I was writing on my phone supposed to show up on my computer? It would make sense if it did because if it isn't supposed to, then what's the point on continuity in messages?

Mine doesn't work correctly between iPhone 5s and late 12 iMac.

safari works correctly both ways

pages will only work iMac to iPhone

the bluetooth pairing showed being successful but the iMac never finds the phone and vice versa.

My final step was to log out of iCloud on my Mac and sign back in
I had tried everything, but once I did that, everything worked

This didn't work for me.

My iPhone 6+ in Safari transfers to my 2012 iMac but not from my iMac to the iPhone. I called Apple support and they download a report from my iMac. They told me they should have an answer for me by this Friday.

Also, for some unknown reason, the bluetooth on the iPhone states "Richards iMac not connected" and the "other device" wheel keeps spinning looking for the iMac.

Something is screwy here. Hopefully it's the software and not the hardware.
