Handsfree Passcode.

I hope there is a setting for this annoyance that I face on a daily basis. Whenever I get a new message in, and I use Siri via the headphones or to read the message to me, I have to enter in my passcode to unlock the phone before it will be read to me. I don't want to lower the security of the phone, but I am unsure as to why I have to put in the passcode to hear the message. If I want to send a message, no security has to be bypassed in order to make that happen.

Is there something I am missing? Or is this just to be filed under "annoyance" in the iOS software.
