Hello guys,

I'm swinging between buying an iPad or waiting till the HP Slate debuts. I'm not buying the iPad for music or movies or bookstore... my main function on the iPad will be reading PDF's and taking notes (I would enjoy the occasional movie on that but thats secondary).

I want to know, are there any apps for taking handwritten notes? I do not want it to recognize my writing and convert to letters. I just want it to record exactly what I draw on the screen.. and it would be great if I can arrange them by the date or by some topic.

Also. is there an easier way to copy PDF's from my PC to the iPad? Is there any way to natively read our own PDFs?

Thank you.

if your looking to take handwritten notes, go for the slate. i tried to do this on my ipad, and it works horribly. There isnt even a good stylus to do this. If you rest your hand on the screen, it will take all that input too and not allow you to write. It makes sense its like this, but something most people wouldnt think about at first.

As for pds, goodreader makes it pretty easy. Everyone loves to throw that one out there, but no way to highlight it. I had padnotes, which allowed me to highlight, but was a pain to get it onto the ipad. Airshare is my favorite was to get them onto the ipad, you just have to drag and drop anything you want on there, but you have to connect wirelessly.

I would wait to purchase the ipad and see what the slate looks like, cause nobody has actually seen it in action. Im not even sure you will be able to take hand written notes on that. So thats just something to keep in mind too, plus maybe there will be an ipad price drop pretty soon.

That's what im doing, when the Slate is released im going to try both of them at the same store and see which one is better, maybe I get neither if none of them are good enough.

I love iannotate. It's $6.99 but worth it. It let's you highlight and make notes on PDFs, very handy.
