Hangs on disk access after migration assistant

Hi, ran migration assistant to transfer content from old Macbook to new Macbook. All seemed to work fine but i'm getting hangs when apps attempt to access the file system.

For example, saving a document from sublimetext3, photoshop cc etc. hangs and beachballs before the save location prompt appears, interestingly this doesn't seem to affect textedit and finder is fast to open locations.

I suspected a user permissions error so repaired disk permissions, booted into recovery and reset home folder permissions and ACL, this hasn't fixed the issue.

I'm also having an issue with keyboard resetting language to US instead of British and removing the British option from the menubar.

Any ideas on a fix?

Give this a read.

Did you happen to already have an account on the new machine when you ran Migration Assistant? If you did, it can cause a conflict with the UserID as described in the article I linked.

Thanks, yeah i've read this while I was looking for solutions. In answer to your question, no I formatted the drive, reinstalled a fresh copy of Yosemite off the app store and ran migration assistant from the old macbook, to the new over ethernet.

There's one user account, with guest disabled : ID 501 Group staff.

I'll take it into the applestore. I wondered about chowning the entire home directory assuming there's some permissions mismatch but it's not like i can't access everything, it's just that there's a 30s hang every time an app attempts to access the file system.
