Apple started the commercial production around a month before the release date, I have dumps starting with 20090216. My dual 2009 is a little newer, OEM build date 20091007.

If you bought it March 3, it can't be produced at March 2. Did you looked at the serial number to get the build date? If so, it's not the correct date.

CoconutBattery reported March 2. I bought it stock with no config changes, so I figured it was on an assembly line somewhere and they just packed it up in the box and shipped it to me.

It's an approximation based on first day of the week that the Mac came out of the production line. Apple used it to add salt into the Serial Number, but it's not the real build date. Sometimes the date from the serial number is a month later than the BD.

If you want to know the correct BD, do a dump with ROMTool and check the offset 0x3fff50.

Thanks for the reminder! Looks like I missed mine's birthdate on February 7. This really has been the best computer I've ever owned.

They're ageing quite nicely though, aren't they? Mine has been doing some OS nostalgia today: I've had OS9 on SheepShaver ever since I got my 1,1 back in 2006, yesterday I installed NeXTStep on VirtualBox, today I've got VB running Snow Leopard Server. All running simultaneously with not a hitch!
