Big deal
- it's an old XPS which boasted a 3+Ghz P4 when the top-dog Apple laptops were grinding along on the low 1.xghz G3s.
The current model, while not as svelte as the MBP (I'd say 1.5x thicker), is a lot thinner and still tops the highest-spec MBP in terms of power, although with the switch to C2D the MBP isn't that far behind in terms of CPU. But the GPU - the 7950GTX vs X1600 - is a 'no contest' in terms of specs as well as in real life use.
It's also a pretty bombproof 'notebook' (unlike the MBP), and has replaced the Apple for the 'luggable desktop' duty here, as for that purpose I don't need something that threatens to catch fire as soon as it's a little stressed, let alone when used for gaming.
