It has 2+billion users.

Not bad in the scheme of things, considering most other OS's have been around a lot longer.

Anyway, maybe not that worthy of a whole topic , mods feel free to delete but maybe we can discuss our thoughts of the evolution of android and keep it civil, maybe?

As much as I’d love to see that...fat chance.

I all seriousness, I’d love to see everyone share their first or early experiences with Android and how they’ve seen it evolve over the years.

While I kept a casual eye on Android all the way back to the G1 (HTC Dream outside the US, I think) and original Droid, I didn’t dip my toe in until the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus tablet. What stood out for me was was how entirely different a type of hardware and software experience it was coming from an iPhone—some good and some not so good.

Since it works exactly like a PC with a complete working file system, but in your pocket yes it is indeed the most advanced.

My first Android was an Xperia X10 mini, in 2010, followed by a Galaxy S, then I stayed with Samsung phones since.
I did own a Meizu M3s which I purchased as an backup phone.
Now I have a Note 8 as a backup phone

I've enjoyed using my phones over the years.

Well my husband always had Android phones and tablets around because in his old job they always had to develop for them but he discouraged me from trying them for ages. He let me use an old Nexus tablet for awhile and I loved the size of it and enjoyed reading on it, but ultimately preferred iOS on my iPad. So we were strictly an iPhone house for a long time.

But around the time the Note 7 was being leaked, my curiosity about Android could not be suppressed. Everyone here helped me figure out how to get off on the right foot with Android. My birthday was near the release of the Note 7. There was a BOGO deal on AT&T if we opened new lines. So my husband got a Note 7, too. He really loved it and has stayed with Android, as have I, on the secondary lines we opened.

We love the ability to customize our Android phones and make them truly ours. We like the way some things work on Android better than on iOS. And vice versa.

It’s really hard to imagine going back to the way things were with one line apiece and only iOS. It’s been gratifying to see Android OS grow more capable and stable and the hardware become so premium yet affordable.

HTC Hero, unlocked was my first Android phone.

The Galaxy S2 (i9100) was my early favorite Android phone to play with. Taught myself how to root phones and install ROMs, unlock bootloaders, etc..

I’ve had all the Nexus phones and the Pixel phones.

Once I found OnePlus, I never went back to any other Android phone.

I started with the G1. Wish I kept that phone just for nostalgia. After that was the HTC Evo. I didn't get into Samsung Galaxy phones until the S3. But I've been a fan of Galaxy phones ever since.

Started with Galaxy R, followed by the HTC one M7.... I have amassed a huge collection of Androids over the years, and only a handful of iOS devices

Happy birthday. Mine is was a Note 2. Back then, Android was much buggier and the phones got laggy quickly. Now with my Note8, it's fast and pretty stable. Turned out to be a wonderful phone with many features. I will always have a special place in my heart for my note phones as I move on to the Xs Max.

Honeycomb with the Motorola ... I actually forget what tablet it was. But it was the first tablet with Honeycomb and it sure as heck looked great. Didn't work that well, though.

Then Galaxy Nexus, Xperia Arc, Nexus 4, Samsung Infuse, Nexus 5, HTC M1, Moto X, Xperia Z1, OnePlus 1, Vivo V3, Mi Max, Galaxy A5 2017, Mi A1.

Eclair on a ZTE Blade. Those were selling for such cheap that it was an impulse purchase to get to toy around with Android. I updated that one all the way to Ice Cream Sandwich with custom ROMs.

I had a Asus TF101 Transformer with Honeycomb too, being able to plug full sized USB sticks into it was brilliant, but I only use tablets for movies, TV and comics.

Yup. Had the Nexus One, then the HTC M1 (their heyday). Alas, they went downhill from there on, and now they are just a shadow of their former selves. Now they're just Google's OEM. Some Taiwanese still use them though, although imo that's declining as well.
