Happy with iOS 10?

Mods feel free to merge, but I'm looking just to see who updated to iOS 10 and is happy with it (specifically battery life and speed) and what device it's on.

I've got a 6s + and I'm in no rush to update at all, I'll typically wait months. And if its a lousy update I'll hold off longer, if at all.

Certain things I like:
  • New Maps interface
  • Able to send multiple iMessage outside of Messages app
  • Raise to wake w/ rest finger to unlock
  • Ability to 'delete' stock apps
While others I dislike:
  • No more Maps 3D shortcut to go home
  • Messages battery drain
  • HUGE emojis
  • Control Center removing volume / music on main slide
Might end up going back to iOS 9.3.5 while they are still signing it, not sure yet...

You people are crazy, iOS 10 is my favorite iOS update in a long time. For one, raise to wake is incredible (Also turn on touch to unlock, so that you don't have to physically press the home button.) Getting to the camera is 1000x easier/more reliable from the lock screen. And widgets on the lockscreen means I don't have to unlock in some circumstances.

Notifications are so much better, and will only continue to improve as more apps support detailed notifications (check out DarkSky for a current example.) 3D touch on the homescreen is much improved by being able to see widgets. Animations across the OS are way smoother and faster than on iOS 9.

I can't really comment on battery life at the moment as I am using my phone much more than I was a few days ago.

what does that raise to wake feature do if you have your phone in your pocket? just curious.

I'm going to wait on this for at least the 10.1 revision. I see nothing compelling me to upgrade immediately.

Widgets were accessible from the lock screen before too. The camera shortcut is different but I (and I would assume many others) haven't had any issues using the old one. Raise to wake seems like it can be useful for those that have devices that support it, and even out of those some see it as being too sensitive and don't need the screen coming on as often. Notifications with rich actions are nice, but can be seen as coming with some extra cost of some actions now being behind extra taps rather than just behind a slide. Things are certainky somewhat more "snappier" though.

Basically nothing really crazy about various of these things not really being necessarily better for various people depending on their use and their devices.

You can call people crazy simply because they don't agree with you, but "Raise to Wake" isn't available on my iPhone 6. Either is 3D touch. I'm not inclined to buy a new iPhone since mine works fine. The battery life with iOS 10 is significantly worse, and I've turned off the features that are the usual battery killers. For some reason, battery usage shows Siri as using 20 percent of my battery in the past 24 hours, and I never use Siri.

I'll wait a few more days to see if the OS sorts itself out. If it doesn't, I'm considering reverting to iOS 9.3.5 until Apple can address the battery life problems that others have posted about here. That's why I'd like to know if there's a deadline to reverting.

I like it & have no battery life complaints, but I do notice my 6S gets quite warm while charging now. My Air 2 remains cool charging from <10% to full but the 6S is noticeably much warmer when I pick it up post / during charge.

I went back to 9.3.5 on my SE. My big gripes are the new lock screen, new Notification Center, new control center, and the new pull downs for quick replies to emails/texts. Just really puzzling design decisions. (Tiny gripe: the old click and lock sounds are better too)

There's nothing really compelling in iOS 10, though a few things are cute (iMessage apps, "memories" in photos).

Speed and battery life were about the same.

All in all, not worth it to me. Never really felt iOS 9 was missing anything.

short and sweet: those big fat fonts on lockscreen etc. look ugly.

this is the most ugly ios version since a long time.

widgets look ugly, control center with those many windows etc.

oh man... apple what did you do!?

I updated, despite misgivings, and, after the usual mess caused to my mail settings (I'm used to this happening) the only bit that's not working is the barometer sensor. Ios10 seems to have isolated it.

Anyone else finding this ?

Other than that it is business as usual, I can't really see much difference but, as I have no interest in activity apps, breathing apps and emojis or handwriting in messages, I don't suppose I represent anything like the average user.

The usual for me is updating the OS annually then disabling all the stuff I have no use for (and there is much of this). Because of this I rarely suffer from battery problems.

OS10 seems faster on my 5 and 5s and operation seems smoother. What I'm having trouble adjusting to is pushing the Home button instead of sliding, I sometimes feel like I'm using some one else's iPhone. As for battery life I have noticed no real difference either way.

I have no complaints, I really like it. Battery life seems to be good, just seems longer to charge your phone. I love the new unlock touch id feature. In addition, I love the new messaging apps and gifs.

1. Love the split screen for Safari even though I can't "do it" from some web pages - I'll figure it out.

2. Had to dump the Emoji keyboard because I can't get past it to interchange between other keyboards in iMessage - thought it was a problem only in landscape but the same behaviour occurred in portrait.

3. Can't seem to find how to get rid of the CLICKING when setting time in Calendar.

4. I thought Raise to Wake was what I was looking for but I don't want the notifications screen I just want to put my thumb on the Home Button and unlock without pressing a la Apple Pay.

5. Apple mail seems balky i.e. taking a long time to update which I never saw in 9.3.5.

6. This is the first iTunes UI that I've liked in a long time ALTHOUGH I would like to get rid of that silly menu bad at the bottom.

7. The iPad does seem to be chewing through battery power since going to iOS 10.

Still playing around I'm sure there may be other situations and I may figure out how to get around those I've mentioned.

I expect to like it more when my 7+ arrives so that all the advertised features work, but for now on the iPhone 6 I am mostly unimpressed.

-The new unlock feature does not work reliably, occasionally causing the phone to open the Home screen when I am merely resting my thumb on the TouchID sensor with the expectation that it will just unlock the notifications screen.

-Control Center does not return you to the 1st panel but instead remains on the last panel visited making it take longer to use the flashlight or turn Wi-Fi on/off.

-Apps have been crashing, glitching, loading slowly, and showing other weird problems. This includes Apple's built-in apps which have been unstable. Power-cycling the phone has not resolved this so I expect I will need to wipe and restore the phone if it's a corruption issue.

-Downloads have been abysmally slow, especially App updates from Apple's servers. Could be due to so many people updating to the new iOS at the same time, but annoying none the less.

Things I like:
+The new unlock screen is great when it actually works
+HomeKit control from the Control Center works instantaneously, faster and more reliably than the OEM apps do
+Finally able to remove crapware from Apple

Things I look forward to once I get the 7+:
+Raise to wake
+Hopefully, a more reliable unlock screen experience
+3D touch
+Untethered "Hey, Siri"
