Hi guys,

Ive noticed that on my 2009 mac pro with standard 640gb HDD I have gone from having used 300 gb to now having only 40gb free space!!

I have had a large time machine backup pending since 27th May also, which it states it 150gb worth, not sure why its that big anyway but I have left my mac on for the last couple of days to get the backup done.

Could the large TM backup be to blame? if not what else should I look out for as I haven't even installed anything since this space started disappearing!

Thanks for any help or ideas

Where is your TM backup? on the same drive????

If it is, the yes, TM will keep archiving until space full. But, having your TM back up on the drive you wish to protect is not smart. If the HD goes down you lose your data and your backup. If you can afford a Mac Pro, you can afford a second HD to put in one of your o ther 3 bays to serve as a dedicated TM backup drive.

The it's not the TM. Sorry if I assumed. Empty trash? With the myriad of downloads and updates, trash can get silently big fast.
