Hi Guys
Newbie to the MAC OSX field here, and I have a friend of mine with a G3 - and by the way I am totally impressed with the OSX interface.. rocks over XP,..... anyway..

His machine is running rather slow, and has about 250mb free... not a great deal. Are there apps that can assist in freeing up space? (like removing temp files, etc?)

Also to uninstall a program from OSX, is there an Add/remove programs area? Sorry it's my Windows experience creeping in...

Thanks guys, i'm definitely looking forward to getting Panther installed one day.. :)

Dave

To delete an app, drag it to the trash and empty it. That's it.

To free up space, check for unused apps and unnecessary files in the user folder (movies and music in particular).

How big is his hard drive? Getting down to 250 MB free is pretty difficult to do.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.. Will do a search through the user folder to see what is there and remove as necessary.

It got down so low because of Final Cut Pro - the scratch area was on the main drive, and this was filling rather quickly.

We have since changed the scratch area to a separate (larger) drive and I guess maybe after rebooting it should clear up any other "temp" files? We'll see.

Thanks for the advice ;)
