Hey everyone, quick question, there was a clicking noise on my MBA when i first turned it on, but when the fans kicked in (as i immediately backed everything up incase it was a HDD failure) the clicking stopped, is it the fans or the hard drive (any advice would be appreciated), i have AppleCare and assume both would be replaced for free? :) regards, skate71290

i have the same machine and occasionally i hear a single click sound from my hard drive (in most cases my fan did not kick in when it happens). I was worried at first and back up everything like you did, but so far haven't had any issue. I've owned the machine for about 2 years, if i remember correctly.

It's a series of clicks for about 3 seconds, stops for a few seconds then repeats, it's really weird lol and does make me think that the fan is dislodged or something similar, just wanted advice from those who have had previous problems

Oh, then my "issue" is different from yours. I only heard a single click occasionally. Since you have AppleCare, I'd suggest you bring it to Apple Store and have them check it out. Doesn't hurt you know. (and if you get lucky, maybe they can't fix it and replace it with the new MBA :D:D)
