*Note: The SuperDuper free/trial version will work for this procedure. I'm not sure if SuperDuper is Leopard compatible yet. Another cloning program is Carbon Copy but I have never used that one.
 
Pretty sure mine has died on me too.
Whenever I try to turn it on it doesn't boot up and evetually an icon with a question mark appears. Guessing it's the drive, but hopefully i'm wrong?
On a good note, I do have everything backed up via time machine.
Is it possible to boot my computer with the external drive via USB?

i'm open to just about any ideas here?
 
yes, that's exactly what happened to me... everything froze and when i restarted i had a flashing folder with a question mark.

I then rushed to the Apple store and a mac genius told me it was the hard drive... the computer wouldn't find it...

and silly me i didn't back up anything.....that will teach me
 
Notebook hard drives are funny like that... I had one die on me this summer. At least the macbook has a user replaceable hard drive.
 
so, following the recent news of the hard drive problems.... what should i do?

Is it worth contacting Apple?
