I am getting the following in console, over and over again:

10/22/08 2:25:01 PM kernel Debug disk0s2: I/O error.
10/22/08 2:25:01 PM kernel Debug hfs_clonefile: cluster_read failed - 5

Other than seeing this error there are no other symptoms.

Any ideas other than failing HD? SMART status is OK.

Wow, no response, where is everyone?

I managed to fix it (at least temporarily) by running disk utility while booted from the install disk. I did a repair and repair permissions on the boot volume and the error has not occurred since.

I've never experienced this before. It looks like you fixed it but if it pops up again maybe post in a general hardware / OS X forum since it seems like it could occur with any drive, not just the Air?
