Hard Drive Failure.

Hi guys my PoweBook 12" Hard Drive is failing me at the moment. I am booting off an external hard drive. But when I boot up it tries to mount my Powerbook's Hard Drive. After 5 minutes of trying to mount I get the Kernel Panic.

I'm looking for a solution where I can stop my laptop mounting the hard drive without me physically having to take it out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
