Hard drive for old G4

I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good internal hard drive for an old 400mhz G4. I need to replace both of them.

And if you don't mind I have a dual 2.0 G5. What would be a good internal for that as well. I already have two, but I wasn't sure if I'm able to fit another one? I seem to remember that isn't possible.

LOTS of options - OWC is the place to shop. Your G4 takes ATA hard drives, while your G5 uses SATA drives. Click the links and check it out.

I have two 250GB IBM/Hitachi 7200RPM SATA drives - I'm pretty happy with them.

You'll need an IDE (PATA) drive. Be aware the G4 logicboard will probably not be able to recognise a hard drive larger than 128GB.

The G5 can only hold 2 SATA hard drives. To add a third you'll need to purchase a PCI-X hard drive controller card and some kind of mounting hardware to install it in the case. It'll probably be easier and cheaper to buy an external FireWire drive.
 
You beat me to the punch, I was just about to ask about the HD limit..

If you look at the ATA link I made to OWC's website, you'll see that they sell a utility to get around the 128GB limit...of course you could always spend an extra $60 or so and buy a PCI SATA adapter and drive for your G4. When I did that I experienced a 10%+ performance increase in benchmarks. Made a huge difference.

I saw that. I wasn't sure if it really worked. Maybe I will try that if there isn't any negative side effects.
