Hey guys, I'm currently running a mac pro 1.1 with mountain lion and a gtx 560. I have two 250gb drives, one for the os and one for storage.

I will soon be purchasing an ssd, but am wanting to install windows 8 on a second partition now.

However when I get the ssd I dont want to have to re force mountain lion and then re install bootcamp ect.

Is there a way for me to transfer the exact contence of my OS drive, then re put it onto my ssd?

e.g. creating an image of my original os drive in disk utility to a 1tb external, then writing then restoring that image to the ssd?

Thanks!

You can just use Disk Utility to clone over the OS X part of this, but that won't clone the Bootcamp partition. You will need something like Winclone for that.

SuperDuper will do that for you. Free trial allows for a full drive clone. I'd throw the SSD into one of the spare drive bays instead of an external enclosure.

^^^^Or better sill for a 1,1 Mac Pro, why not An Apricorn Velocity Solo x1 SSD card?
