Hard Drive on new Macbook Pros?

A few questions regarding the HD which the answers to some may not be even known yet:

1.) Is the internal HD replaceable on the updated MBP?

2.) If it isn't, how does one go about replacing it, with say an Intel 25-M without voiding the warranty?

3.) If Apple will replace your HD for you, will this service cost money?

4.) What SSD do people expect Apple will be putting in the MBP's? The crappy Toshiba, or decent Samsung?

5.) Why such the HUGE proce difference between the 128 and 256 GB SSD's? Are they different brands?

I can tell you that the HD whether it is an HDD or SSD is replaceable. And it will not void your warranty. If you do a search you will find numerous threads here that talk about the SSD's that Apple puts in them. I just can't remember off the top of my head which one it is.

There have been threads where people hint that installing non-Apple approved HD/SSD's voids your AC. I guess this sin't the case, and apparently replacing the HD is as simple as unscrewing the bottom case.

Now I'm pretty happy about the MBP updates. :)
 
I think the SSD are last gen Toshiba SSD. So yh wise, to get an Intel X25-M (or X25-E) :)
don't forget to flash it with the latest firmware.

So flash it with a ISO image on a CD. then clone your drive, and swap it in. :) cool but I chose a 24" LED ACD over the Intel X25-M
 
Just wait for SSD till the Q4 of 2009 or Q1 of 2010.
because Intel are planning to launch a cheaper larger SSD with almost double write speeds and similar reads.
there has even been talk of putting two intel drives in RAID 0 in one 2.5" drive. :)
Thats why I'd put buying a new SSD on hold.

Money isn't the biggest issue for me.

What exactly does clonging a HD do, and is it easy enough?
 
Ok, but you MUST firmware flash your drive, as it increases it's life and keeps the write speeds from dropping too suddenly in use.

Cloning is very easy, you place your drive in a caddy or case which is connected to your computer. run some cloning software like "Carbon Copy Cloner"
and done.

Cloning makes exact bootable copy of your drive. This means you don't have to install OS. In essence you clone it, and just switch the drives. As simple as that. :)

Money isn't an issue for me either, however the upgrades promised for the ageing Intel X25-M seem worth it. As capacity and write speed deterioration were an issue for me.
